New Year’s celebrations symbolize bringing good luck, and what is happening in Italy and Ireland is very strange
New Year's Eve celebration traditions in European countries mostly focus on keeping away evil spirits and bringing good luck, happiness, and prosperity. To achieve their goal, they practice customs and traditions that are out of the ordinary and arouse astonishment.
Grape beans
In Spain, there is a tradition of eating 12 grapes on New Year’s Eve, one for each tick of the clock until midnight, so that people can enjoy prosperity. If they eat them within the specified time, they will be lucky throughout the following year. The taste of grapes, whether sweet or sour, foretells what the following year will bring. The tradition dates back to 1909, when the grape harvest was abundant in a Spanish region.
