Today’s Trend: Revealing Hamas’ conditions for agreeing on a new truce with Israel and exchanging prisoners

Al Khaleej 365 newspaper: Sources revealed details of the draft response that Hamas submitted to the Qatari and Egyptian mediators regarding a new prisoner exchange deal and a truce in the Gaza Strip.

The draft included a first phase that included the release of all Palestinian women and children under the age of 19 detained in Israeli prisons, along with all prisoners aged 50 years and above, in exchange for the release of a first group of Israeli civilian prisoners held by Hamas in Gaza. According to what was reported by the newspaper Wall Street Journal, Wednesday.

The second phase included the release of 1,500 prisoners, including 500 serving long-term sentences, in exchange for the release of Israeli soldiers detained in Gaza.

Hamas also stipulated the rebuilding of hospitals and refugee camps in the Gaza Strip, and the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from residential areas in the Strip.

The draft included a proposal for a temporary cessation of fighting, a halt to aerial reconnaissance, and the repositioning of Israeli forces outside populated areas throughout the Gaza Strip, to be along the dividing line, in order to enable the parties to complete the prisoner exchange process.

In the same context, an Israeli official said that the Israeli authorities will consider whether to reject Hamas’ proposal completely or to request alternative conditions.
